ASICS Running

ASICS has been developing sports shoes and apparel for more than 50 years now. In this time innovation has been the key to our introduction of design philosophies that have revolutionized the world of sports. At our research and development centre in Kobe, Japan, we work in close collaboration with male and female athletes. Through our scientific approach we have managed to create some highly innovative sports product solutions. Technologies such as our core GEL cushioning system and the evolutionary Impact Guidance System (I.G.S.) and Biomorphic have helped to create some of the most comfortable and performance-enhancing shoes and apparel on the market, for athletes and active consumers alike.

Our company name, an acronym for the Latin phrase “Anima Sana In Corpore Sano”, meaning “Sound Mind In A Sound Body”, has shaped our destiny. It is the echo of our consistency, our innovation, our commitment to quality and our originality. ASICS Running offers top quality footwear and clothing for athletes and serious recreational runners both male and female. The Performance line is aimed at performance focused runners who consider quality essential. Training on a regular basis they will put their sports clothing and shoes through their paces. This highly technical range is designed to enhance performance at the highest possible level.

ASICS Gel Running

The ASICS Gel Cushioning System has been the core technology for the ASICS Gel Running footwear range for nearly two decades. Placed within the shoe’s midsole in key impact areas, the Gel Cushioning System has proven itself as one of the most effective in-shoe cushioning systems ever developed. The Gel Cushioning System works in conjunction with the midsole material to diminish the shock experienced from the foot from vertical forces in all sporting activities. ASICS Gel Running Shoes are developed to meet the particular biomechanical needs of athletes. The Asics Gel Cushioning System is a key component in meeting these needs in the Asics running range and is developed in many different densities and shapes, to best fit the impact requirements of these athletes.

Twist GEL is a cushioning system that responds, in multiple directions. As the load is applied, the GEL “twists” in a screw-down type action which dampens the impact load more efficiently. TWIST GEL behaves in much the same way as the fatty tissue in the sole of the human foot. The result?....responsiveness…efficiency....performance and a brilliant ride.

Asics Running Shoes

Within Asics Running Shoes technologies such as the core Gel Cushioning system and the evolutionary Impact Guidance System (I.G.S) and Biomorphic fit technology have helped create some of the most comfortable and performance-enhancing shoes on the market. Asics are the leaders in technical footwear development. Testament to this is the Impact Guidance System. Within Asics running IGS Adaptive Technology comprises a series of interrelated components designed to work together to achieve a specific characteristic for a given activity.

IGS allows the foot to perform in a more natural manner for the intended sport - by delivering superior ride, comfort and performance.

Solyte is an all-new advanced copolymer with extraordinary weight saving properties due to its low density. It weighs 30% less than ASICS SpEVA, and 50% less than standard EVA midsole material. In addition, Solyte’s unique mechanical properties far exceed the most stringent standards for tensile strength, elongation at failure, tear strength, compression set, energy return and shock attenuation.

V-Trusses are designed to increase torsional rigidity without compromising the windlass mechanics effect. V-Trusses are added according to the amount of rigidity required – the more V-Trusses the more torsional rigidity to the shoe. The system is then classified according to its category; light bracing for the cushioning category; medium bracing for the structured cushioning category; and maximum bracing for the maximum support category.

Asics Men’s Running Shoes

Asics Men’s Running shoes provide the male athlete with varying possibilities depending on their biomechanical needs. From the legendary Kayano 15 running shoe (previously Kayano 14 running shoe) to the ever popular Asics GT 2140, the Asics running structured cushioned shoes offer athletes many different options. The neutral runner has the choice of Asics gel running shoes from the top of the range Gel Nimbus running shoes, through to the Gel Cumulus and the Gel Stratus.

The GEL-Nimbus was developed to cater for the need of highly cushioned running shoes, especially in the American market. The objective was to build a cushioned shoe that had that ‘soft’ feel under foot but also did not collapse too quickly. The neutral runner needs more cushioning in the heel-to-midfoot stage of the gait process while the over-pronators (Kayano user) needed a shoe with a perfect mix of cushioning and added stability to accommodate a more flexible foot. Over the years the GEL-Nimbus has evolved but the IGS principles and biomechanics remain in the core of this shoe. Asics are continually challenging themselves to build a lighter, more cushioned and more durable GEL-Nimbus each year. The GEL-Nimbus is now one of the flagship models through which Asics introduce their new technology.

Asics Women’s Running Shoes – Gender Differences

One of the most significant developments in our Asics running biomechanical research is the discovery of differences in the movement patterns of male and female runners, as well as differences in foot shape and size. From research women have unique injury patterns, and certain ligaments are more likely to be injured during physical activity. During ovulation oestrogen levels peak meaning variations in arch height can occur. Because of this, Asics introduced the first interactive running shoe specifically for women, featuring ASICS gender specific Space Trusstic system.

How does it work?
With the gender specific Space Trusstic - the depth of the Space in the Trusstic is increased, along with a slight reduction in the thickness of the midsole over the space. As the foot varies in arch height throughout the ovulation cycle, the midsole and space are able to combine, and instantly react to the altered arch profile. The midsole is more easily deformed into the space, while the depth from midsole to the Space Trusstic unit increases allowing more room for the deformation. The outcome is enhanced Windlass mechanics for the female athlete throughout her entire cycle. This specific technology from ASICS equates to better all round performance in Asics ladies running shoes, comfort, fit and ride for women.

Asics Running Clothes

The Asics running apparel collection delivers a sophisticated range of technologies, providing an outstanding balance of fit, function, comfort, and style. The collection is a comprehensive line of sportswear to accommodate specific lifestyles and endurance. levels. The linked technologies work together to enhance performance, whether you’re training for the gold medal or participating in a more casual exercise regimen. The sports categories have been segmented into a Performance and Active Line. The essentials collection has been divided into two categories: Sports Essentials for the sport-related styles and SportsStyle favourites for the leisure-related styles. The Asics Biomorphic technology is available in the Performance line. This technology was introduced into the top Running collection in 2004. The technical concept concentrates on improving performance of top athletes and sports enthusiasts. Five different segmentations have been created to cover all conditions: Motion, Protection, Cut, Cool and Warm. The Asics Duotech concept is available in the Active lines, introduced into European market. The main goal is to increase the comfort of the body through the use of recognised techniques from the elements. Four different segmentations have been created to cover all the conditions: warm, Cold, Rain and Wind. The Biomorphic technology and the Duotech concept stand next to each other in the whole Asics collection with the exception of Sportstyle.
